Some of the images in the portfolio were editorial shots for a local magazine, others simply for personal interest while others are commissioned portrait work.
Of special interest to me is creating images that exceed the normal dynamic range of digital photography. I’ve been developing my skill using “HDR” (high dynamic range) techniques. HDR images can’t help but look somewhat surreal as they’re creating an image that far exceeds the dynamic range of conventional images. Some use the term “painterly: which simply tends to mean detail in shadows, midtones, and highlights in the same image.
I’m comfortable with location portraiture in any setting. I’ve worked hard at implementing multiple Speedlights and Quantum strobes with modifiers to get studio quality lighting very quickly with minimum interference to the workplace. You’ll find some of the work stylized. I do want to show that I can do illustrative type images that are consistently stylized.
I’m up for challenges and love solving the issues that stand between mediocrity and work that displays the utmost of skill and care. For this reason I’m a perpetual learner always seeking improvement.
