Garage Games 2010

Yesterday I attended the “Garage Games 2010“. My buddy Jeff Franks asked me, along with a couple other photographers, to help him shoot the event. Still recovery from pneumonia I’m afraid I wasn’t a huge help. The games were up at Lake Allatoona in Georgia.

Garage Games are games based on “Cross Fit” training. Personally I prefer games that involve projectiles and extreme speeds but you can not deny the athleticism of these folks. “In shape” is a huge understatement. Games consist of “feats of strength” (much like Festivus). Carrying sand bags up and down hills, then hoisting the bag up on your shoulder 20x, then dead lifting 315 lbs 20 times etc… you get the idea. The people are just terrific. Friendly, humble, and simply strong as oxes. Here’s a few images. OH… the young man is another photographer named Alex Smith. Alex is without peer in his age group when it comes to photography. Alex is a serious student of photography and I have no doubt he’ll accomplish what he so chooses. Alex will be helping Ron Angle at The Cellular South Cup February 14-20 in Memphis.
