My intent with this entry is to solicit more Second Shooter business. As this blog is increasingly becoming my primary web presence I would like to utilize it’s excellent slide show capabilities and post my contribution as a second shooter showing my coverage of a single wedding front to back as a second shooter.
The wedding took place at Forest Hills in Dahlonega. It was a beautiful early Spring day with no cloud cover whatsoever until all were indoors for the reception.
What I hope to show someone who might consider hiring me as a Second Shooter is this:
- My goal is always to be supportive of the primary and serve those needs first. If that means holding a reflector I’m fine with that.
- I’m looking to tell stories when possible. You’ll see multiple shots of the same subject to convey a sense of the action and what was going on.
- I’m looking to document all the guests. I take my share of true candids (subject unaware). Yet what I’ve learned over quite a few weddings is photographers saying that those typically don’t sell as well as people smiling at the camera. What I call a “3-second portrait”. I’m happy to do candids, posed, or a combination which is usually the case.
- I’m staying out of the primary photographers backgrounds.
- I’m managing light in difficult situations using a variety of techniques. I try to stay objective and not fall into the extreme camps of “natural light” or “flash always”. I’m looking at each setting and trying to manage it on it’s on merits & deficits.
Thanks for your consideration.
