Take A Look At My Work!

Zoe Looking Tough - a painterly image from my first portfolio

It’s easy for a photographer to put up a portfolio and show his 30 best  shots over the span of a career. Blogs  reveal a photographer’s abilities, work ethic, and commitment to excellence on a day-to-day basis.  You’ll find a number of ”featured galleries” here. They are titled and include my portfolios. I also have included a number of other galleries so you can see the consitency and commitment to quality I’m committed to. Every blog entry has at least one picture so browse the entries if you have time as well.

Steve’s Portrait Portfolio – most recent March ’09 to May 2010

Portfolio-1 – Rather than continue to distill a portfolio from all my work I’m committed to creating portfolios on an on going basis.

Commercial Work – Work that I’ve done both for hire and self assignment that is commercially oriented. Both portrait and architecture.

Wedding Work – I’ve done a lot of “Second Shooting” and if you’re a photographer or bride to be you can look at my wedding wrok. Typically I’m not afforded much access to the bride as a second shooter. But I’m comfortable that my portriat work would lay any fears to rest for a bride to be.
Wedding Work II – This is an example of my second shooter coverage of a particular wedding from beginning to end.

Senior Session Female – No studio shots all casual.

Senior Session Male – studio and outdoors on premises at SGP studios.

Location Portrait Session – done at the subject’s home. We used speedlights, natural light, ringflash, and good old sunlight.

Example of my self contained "3-Second Portrait"

Garage Games Sporting Event – I had pneumonia and regret that I couldn’t do more work outside. But something I would like very much to point out about this work is that I have a few of what I call “3 second portraits”. A proprietary technique, if you will, that gives me directional light on a torso or head shot without aid of an assistant. The shot to the right is one. The man didn’t skip a beat because I wasn’t intrusive to the point of irritation. I took my shot and walked away. But notice the Rembrandt pattern, the highlight/shadow side of the face etc..

My Main Man Timmy – Timmy and his Mom are good friends of ours. Timmy has “Trisomy 21″ or Down’s Syndrome. I include this gallery because I want to show what can happen in less than 5 minutes with one speedlight shot through an umbrella. No Pulitzer prizes here but I’m going for personality.

Family Portraiture – This is actually a proof gallery of a session with 3 siblings. Just an example of studio lighting on a typical session.

Light Traps – This is a technique I’m working on. It’s actually the very first time I employed “light traps”.  I use a radio trigger system to create areas in the room where the subjects will be lit in an interesting fashion. The blog entry has some explanation.
